guided self-help
Guided self-help is a type of talking support that can help young people who are feeling low, anxious or stressed. A wellbeing practitioner will support you to explore your thoughts, feelings and behaviours, identify goals to work towards and build coping techniques.
It’s a great option if you're looking to improve your mental health by learning strategies to manage stress, anxiety and other challenges.

guided self-help at Centre 33
For those looking to manage their mental health more independently, we provide one-to-one sessions alongside resources and tools to guide and empower you to take care of your wellbeing.
In sessions, a wellbeing practitioner – who is a bit like a mental wellbeing ‘coach’ – helps you understand more about the way you’re feeling, explores what might be keeping these feelings going and then picks goals that you’d like to work towards.
They help you to build up coping techniques, and try out strategies to work towards these goals, with the aim of increasing your knowledge and confidence to help yourself.
Guided self-help can be particularly helpful if you are feeling low, anxious, stressed or worried. It can help with panic attacks, phobias and sleep problems too. It explores patterns in your thoughts, feelings and behaviours, what is going on for you now, and what can be done differently to help you move forwards.

WHY get help?
practical tools
Guided self-help will support you to strengthen current coping skills and learn new practical techniques to work towards your goals. These can help you to build confidence, manage anxiety, low mood, and stress, and take active steps to move forward.
Focus on the present
Guided self-help can encourage you to focus on the here and now, helping you to understand any patterns that might be keeping your feelings going and explore ways to change them.
TAILORED SUPPORT
Our wellbeing practitioners will work closely with you to understand your needs and goals, and tailor the sessions to best support you. They will check-in with you regularly to see how you are finding the support - this can be a good opportunity to share anything that you like or find helpful, and also anything that we could do differently.
